LOMAS DE JATOSISA

Hola folks!
Las lomas son un fenómeno que se dan en la costa peruana en la época de invierno. 
Como sabemos la costa nos caracteriza por ser un desierto y su color beige predomina; pero durante el invierno, por la gran humedad sobre algunas zonas altas hace que esos cerros de tierra y rocas se llenen de vegetación.
La temporada de lomas empieza con el invierno (junio) y termina a mediados de la primavera (entre octubre y noviembre, cuando deja de lloviznar). 
Lo que florece al inicio de la temporada son los amancaes, que son flores que florecen y viven por 3 o 4 días para morir. Sus bulbos florecen nuevamente el siguiente año. 
Los amancaes (flor amarilla) son especiales por muchas razones. Primero, porque es la flor representativa de Lima. Segundo, porque es una flor con mucha tradición en nuestra historia. Y tercero, porque está en peligro de desaparecer. 
Jatosisa es uno de los pocos lugares donde todavía crece de manera silvestre y por eso es importante (está prohibido extraerlas).

The Lomas are a phenomenon that exist in the Peruvian coast in winter season.
As we know, the coast is a desert and its beige color predominates; but during winter time, due to humidity on some high areas, these hills and rocks are filled with vegetation.
This season begins with winter (June) and ends in the middle of spring (between October and November, when it stops drizzling).
What blooms at the beginning of the season are the amancaes, which are flowers that live for 3 or 4 days and then they die.
The amancaes (yellow flower) are special for many reasons. First, because it is the representative flower of Lima. Second, because it is a flower with a lot of tradition in our history. And third, because it is in danger of extinction.
